Surajkund Lake Delhi
Surajkund Lake in Faridabad, Haryana is a popular tourist spot in the NCR region on an hour long drive away from Delhi. it was built by Rajput King Surajmal during his time. The place got its name from an ancient temple devoted to sun god. The lake was used as a water reservoir by the Tomar Rajput’s. It dries in summer but gets filled with ground and rain water during the monsoon season.

Surajkund is a popular tourist destination considered mainly as a picnic spot due to its scenic beauty and serene natural surroundings. Thus it is highly visited place not just by the local visiters but also by the international travelers who wish to get away from the crowded and congested city life.
The most exclusive feature of this place is its annual handicrafts fair that is hugely popular fair in the country. This event is known as “Surajkund mela” and it attracts people from all over. It was a step taken by the Haryana Tourism Department to encourage the artisans from all the corner of the country to gather under one roof and showcase their talent and represent their states and handicrafts from their to the entire world by means of art. This fair takes place every year from 1st February to 15th February in Surajkund village. During this time the village is beautifully decorated where people get an opportunity to demonstrate and sell their crafts pieces. Despite the display of wide varieties of handicrafts, the fair has also other means of entertainment for the visitors such as folk dances of different states of India, various food stalls, and stalls where you can play small games as well.
The place is so full of gathering life time experience, excitement and memories to hold that once you step in Surajkund, you don’t feel like going back, so the place also offers a guest house where you can enjoy a night’s stay amidst all the living in facilities and campfire and extend your fun filled day and relaxation therapy to more fun and frolic into the nights time as well.
