Spread in vast land covering area of 360 acres, Sulatanpur Bird Sanctuary came into existence in year 1971. The park is a heaven for bird watchers. It has got plenty of water bodies and green area surrounding the premises of this bird sanctuary. The soil here is found to be extremely fertile and very favorable for different plantation activities. October-April is the best time of the year to visit the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary because this is the time when climate is perfect and temperature good enough to enjoy the look out for birds.
However there are no accommodation facilities inside the Sulatnpur Bird Sanctuary, but you can find number of hotels and lodges to stay in close vicinity to the park. The best is the tourist lodge by Haryana Tourism Development Corporation.
The fauna here can be categorized into two parts: the birds and the animals. Birds include White Ibises, Spoonbills, Herons, Painted Storks, Red-wattled Lapwings, Cormorants, Egrets, Flamingoes, Mallards, Spotted Sandpiper, Siberian Cranes, Bar-headed geese, Grey lags, Demoiselle Cranes, Pochards, Gadwalls, Shovellers and Pelicans Apart from this collection of birds, the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary also has rich wildlife too such as rare stripped Hyena, Leopard, Nilgai, Sambar, Blackbuck, Hog Deer, Horned Antelope, Carcial, Wild Dog, Mongoose, Wild pig, and Indian Porcupine in its woods.
